Returns the value of the cell that is at the intersection of a row and column within a specified array.

Syntax

INDEX (array, row_num, [column_num])

  • matrix (mandatory ): Range of cells that make up the matrix where the intersection will be made.
  • row_num (required ): Row of the array that contains the searched value.
  • num_column (optional ): Column of the array that contains the searched value.

Examples

INDEX (A2: E10, 2, 6) = Value at the intersection of the second row and the sixth column of the range.
INDEX (A2: E10, 5, 1) = Value at the intersection of the fifth row and the first column of the range.
